Community Feedback Portal
Welcome
Thank you for visiting this confidential feedback portal. This space has been created for anyone who wishes to share an experience, concern, question, reflection, or appreciation relating to Robert Nichols (Dez).
The intention is to provide a respectful, confidential, and trauma-informed process where people can speak openly and be heard without pressure, judgement, or expectation.
Every person’s experience is unique. Whether your experience was supportive, challenging, confusing, harmful, or a combination of these, your perspective is welcome.
Our hope is that this process contributes to greater understanding, accountability, and, where possible, meaningful repair.
Guiding Principles
This process is guided by the following principles:
- Respect for every person’s dignity and lived experience.
- Emotional and psychological safety wherever possible.
- Choice and informed consent throughout the process.
- Transparency about how information is received and used.
- Accountability without presuming conclusions.
- A commitment to listening before responding.
We recognise that people can experience the same events differently. This process is not designed to determine a single version of events, but rather to create a respectful pathway for experiences to be heard and considered.
The purpose of this portal is to receive, hold, and, where appropriate, facilitate communication. This process exists to:
- provide a confidential place for people to share their experiences;
- ensure submissions are received respectfully and thoughtfully;
- support understanding of the impact of experiences;
- identify themes where appropriate;
- and, where all parties freely choose, support opportunities for dialogue or restorative processes.
Participation beyond submitting feedback is always voluntary. This feedback process is separate from any legal, disciplinary, or investigative process.
Commitment to Accountability
Meaningful accountability begins with listening.
As someone who has held positions of leadership and influence, Dez recognises that leadership carries an ongoing responsibility to remain accountable for the impact of one’s actions, to continue learning, and to respond with openness where repair is possible.
This portal forms one part of that ongoing commitment.
Submitting feedback does not require you to seek dialogue, forgiveness, mediation, or reconciliation. Simply having your experience heard may be enough.
Dialogue, Mediation and Repair
Some people may simply wish to share their experience. Others may wish for acknowledgement, clarification, dialogue, or repair.
If everyone involved chooses to participate, an appropriately qualified and mutually agreed independent mediator may be engaged to facilitate that process. Where mediation is appropriate, approaches grounded in Transformative Mediation and Restorative Justice are preferred because they emphasise listening, accountability, understanding, voluntary participation, and meaningful repair.
No one will ever be encouraged or expected to participate in mediation if they do not wish to do so.
Privacy and Confidentiality
Your privacy is important.
To protect the integrity of this process, we ask for enough identifying information to verify that submissions are genuine. Your personal information will remain confidential and will only be used for administering this feedback process. You decide whether your submission may be shared with Dez.
Your submission will not be shared beyond the permissions you provide except:
- where required by law;
- where there is a legal obligation to disclose information; or
- where there is a credible risk of serious and imminent harm to yourself or another person.
Respectful Communication
You are welcome to share your experience in your own words. There is no expectation that your account be perfectly organised or complete.
We ask only that communications avoid abusive or threatening language so that everyone participating in this process can be treated with dignity and respect.
After your submission has been received, it will be carefully reviewed. If additional information or clarification would be helpful, you may be contacted and invited to a confidential conversation.
This conversation is entirely optional and is intended only to:
- ensure your submission has been understood accurately;
- answer any questions you may have;
- discuss any hopes or requests you may have for next steps; and
- explore, only if you wish, whether any further dialogue or restorative process would be appropriate.
There is no obligation to participate beyond your written submission.
Our Commitment
We are committed to holding this process with care, integrity, transparency, and respect. Every submission will be read thoughtfully and taken seriously.
While we cannot promise particular outcomes, we can promise that each person’s voice will be received with respect and considered as part of an ongoing commitment to learning, accountability, and the possibility of repair.
